The Grand Canyon is located in northern Arizona. It is 275 miles long. The widest point is 18 miles from one edge to the other. And at the highest point it's over a mile down from the upper edge to the Colorado River below.

Grand Canyon West and the South Rim is open year round. The North Rim is accessable during the summer months. If you're looking for great views, a variety of tours, and places to stay, the South Rim is very popular. Most people visit during the summer months. If you want to avoid large crowds of people, you may want to plan your trip in early spring or fall.
