Creative Ways To Find A Job Series:

First you need to define exactly what kind of a job you're looking for. Next you make a list of companies you'd be interested in working for. Once you've narrowed down your list, you find out as much about these companies as possible. Visit their websites. Use news feeds such as google and yahoo to keep up to date with what's happening these companies.

As you research these companies, think about how these companies get their business. How do they market their products or services? Do they have outside sales people? Who are their vendors? Think about any organizations they might belong to. Have you ever met anyone that works for these companies? Do you know anyone that works for these companies now? Are any of these companies involved in the community?

Once you know where the decision makers or people in the company hang out or who their friends are, you can look for ways to become involved in that same community of friends and associates. Is there anything you can do to meet these people? Can you volunteer your time to help at some charity event they're involved in? Is there a social club or business association you could join where you can meet the people you want to meet?

Once you develop friendships and rapport with people who know people in your chosen field, you'll be in a much better position to find the job you're looking for. Competition? Well for you there won't be any (or very little). You have FRIENDS! As the old saying goes, 'It's not what you know, it's who you know that matters'

If you already have a good job, you might be afraid that your current employer will find out that you're looking for another job. In this case you can still network but you'll need to be more discreet about it.
