Accidental Networking. How To Find A Job By Getting Lucky.
By Being In The Right Place At The Right Time You Increase Your Chances Of Finding A Job.
This is the shot gun approach to networking. It's slightly more sophisticated than just calling your friends and people that know you. With this approach you will be looking for ways to get to know large numbers of people that might be able to help you. e.g. if you're looking for a career in health care you might volunteer your time at the hospital, doing something related to what you're interested in. If you're teacher, you might work as a substitute teacher until a full time job becomes available.
With accidental networking you can also join social clubs, large meetup groups, community organizations, take up dancing, or go places where can quickly become friends with large numbers of people that can help you in your job search. The more people you know the more likely you'll meet someone who can help you find the job you're looking for.
Your object is to meet as many people as you can that are likely to know people companies you're interested in working for. You can join join clubs, groups, and associations related to your chosen field. This method is good if you don't know exactly which companies you want to work for or even exactly what job you want. All you know is that you'd like to work with computers, or work at home, or work in the medical field, or in retail, ... whatever your skill or passion is.
