One of the best ways to make new friends is do what you love to do. The other way is to volunteer. Obviously if you're going to volunteer you'll want to do something that would be fun and rewarding for you. There are hundreds of clubs and organizations throughout the State that would love to welcome you, especially if you're willing to donate a couple hours of your time. In return you'll be rewarded with many wonderful friends who will appreciate what you're doing for them. Also it's much easier to meet new people when you're a 'host' or 'hostess' or an official volunteer. Look at each topic on this website to get some ideas on how you'd like to spend your time. The possibilities are endless. No matter what you're interested in you'll find other people interested in doing the same thing. This is especially true in large urban areas such as Phoenix. If you prefer more isolated areas that's good too, but you will be more limited as far as clubs and organizations. One thing you can do is make a list of all the rewarding things you've done in your life and all the things you'd still like to do. Do you belong to any organizations such as the Elks or the Moose. Are you a veteran? Then paint a picture in your mind of where you'd like to live. Is it a quiet single family home where houses are far apart? Is it a condo? Is it mobile home? Do you want to live on a golf course or beside a lake? How is your health? Would you feel more secure living near a major hospital or medical facilities? Or would you prefer to live near a wilderness area or hiking trails where you can commune with nature? The next step is to zoom in on areas of the State that have everything that you're looking for. It's very easy once you have a clear picture of what you want.
